Jeongpo Dolsan Park-Busan Metropolitan

Jeongpo Dolsan Park plays the role of a bridge between Munhyeon-dong, Nam-gu and Jeonpo-dong, Jin-gu, Busan. In 2008 residents, students, citizens, and volunteers painted 47 murals on the walls of approximately 250 old slate buildings and shanties in the Dolsan villages located between Jeonpo Dolsan Park and a nearby road as part of a public art project. It was awarded first prize at the 2008 Korea Public Design Grand Prize. The park was refurbished and extended through the Dolsan Park Renovation Project as part of the Livable City Making Project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport from June 2009 through April 2011.

The mural representing Dolsan Park was produced in collaboration with the Busan Metropolitan Government. The village scenes were portrayed in relief on a ceramic wall and messages of hope from primary, middle, and high school students were transcribed on cloud-shaped ceramics. A mural displaying children’s dreams was completed in this way.
